Since 1957, cyclically one Member State holds the Presidency in the European Union Council.

Which includes the:

  • Coordination of over thousand meetings, official (discussions on current issues) and informal (discussions on long-term issues), in Brussels, Luxemburg and the Presidency Member State, including high-level meetings (European Council, summits with third countries’ leaders).
  • Drafting of agreements between Member States, in particular on sensitive issues and controversies.
  • Representing of the Council in the EU institutions, in particular European Commission and European Parliament.

Polish Presidency in the European Union Council begins in July 2011.

The Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products is planning on effectively using this period of time:

  • active participation in the EU Council meetings, outside of Poland,
  • presentation its position during European Commission work,
  • organisation of 8 meetings in Poland, regarding the work of the EU Council.
