The 28th meeting of representatives of the Competent Authorities for Medical Devices  took place on  October 27-28, 2011 in Cracow. It has preceded by the 4th Central Committee Meeting. Both meeting were realized in scope of the Polish Presidency in the EU Council.

Both meetings were organized by the Office for Registration on Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products and brought together many delegates from almost all member states and observers e.g. from Turkey and Croatia.

The meetings lasted two days and discussion were focused on issues influencing improvement of competent authorities cooperation. Among other topics, the issue of borderline products, designation procedure of notification authorities and future regulations in scope of medical devices. The meeting participants considered how to speed-up the decision making process. The topic of decisions on borderline products has been presented by the Presidency.

The specific specialized character of the meeting Has been confirmed by the active participation of the European Commission representative Mr. Laurent Selles, who has presented the new international organization – International Medical Devices Regulator’s Forum (IMDRF), which will replace the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF) in a near future.

The next meeting will be organized in Copenhagen under the Danish Presidency in the EU Council in March 2012.
